Fanhattan buys Open Movie Database ahead of its own launch next year.
Fanhattan, a US-based digital media company, has acquired Canadian peer Open Movie Database.
Fanhattan plans to launch its service early next year to help online movies and television shows.
The company is backed by venture capital firms New Enterprise Associates, Redpoint Ventures, GreyCroft Partners and BV Capital, which spun out from German media group Bertelsmann’s corporate venturing unit and which also has retailer Otto Group as a cornerstone investor in its European fund, eVentures.
