During her varied career Fan Munce has taken a leadership role within the corporate venturing and wider venture capital community, serving as chairwoman of the board of Global Corporate Venturing's Leadership Society.
Claudia Fan Munce, one of the best known figures in the corporate venturing industry, is retiring from IBM. She has joined venture capital firm NEA as a venture advisor, in a move which will strengthen ties between the corporate venturing and venture capital worlds.
Fan Munce has worked for 30 years at IBM, starting as a researcher and managing the IBM Venture Capital Group, where she has worked for the past 15 years.
In an email sent out to over 1000 VCs from around the world, Fan Munce said “ I want to express my appreciation for the partnership and support that I have received from the venture community around the globe, and I will always treasure the many friendship that were established along the way. The very talented team that remains in IBM Venture Capital Group and successor will carry forward our mission to drive opportunities for collaboration between IBM and the venture community to generate positive impacts on our businesses and to the world.”
During her varied career Fan Munce has taken a leadership role within the corporate venturing and wider venture capital community, serving as chairwoman of the board of Global Corporate Venturing’s Leadership Society, and also sits on the board of trade body NVCA. She will continue to stay active with the Global Corporate Venturing group as chairwoman. Fan Munce will also continue to serve on the board of multiple companies both public and private.
