After completing his posting with the company as an MBA associate, Lee Larson joins Piva Capital as an investor.
Lee Larson has joined Piva Capital, a fund targeting North American and European startups, which is part of Petronas Ventures, the CVC arm of Malaysian multinational oil and gas company Petronas.
In his new role as an investor he will target startups working on carbon removal technologies, quantum computing, AI and the circular economy. Lee joined Piva Capital’s summer associates programme in 2023
Larson began his career as a business analyst and consultant, working first for the global professional services firm Deloitte, and then for BCG, a US business consultancy.
His first role in investing came when he joined TPG, a US private equity company, as an associate in 2021. Here, he worked in the sustainability field, looking at the projected carbon emissions of startups the company considered investing in.
Piva Capital has more than 17 portfolio companies across industries including energy, mobility, materials and the industrial sector. In January 2024, it was the lead investor in the $131m series B funding round for Ineratec, a German startup making carbon-neutral fuels.
