Deutsche Telekom has joined fellow telecommunications firms Ericsson and Nokia Siemens in backing optics specialist Skorpios Technologies.

US-based optical communications company Skorpios Technologies secured $2m on Tuesday from T-Venture, the corporate venturing unit belonging to telecommunications firm Deutsche Telekom, bringing its series B financing to $21m.

Skorpios had already raised $19m in series B funding, in September, from telecommunications conglomerates Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks, as well as private equity and venture capital (VC) firm Sun Mountain Capital and VC fund the Cottonwood Technology Fund.
