George Coyle has departed from ConocoPhillips' corporate venturing unit to form an oil and gas-focused fund that has already raised almost $43m in capital.

George Coyle, manager of technology venture investments for oil and gas company ConocoPhillips for more than five years, has left to form a new entity called Energy Innovation Capital.

Although Energy Innovation Capital has not publicly disclosed any information about itself, Coyle’s LinkedIn profile states it will provide venture and growth capital for companies in the energy, oil and gas technology sectors. A regulatory filing indicates it has so far raised $42.8m in capital.
