ABB-backed surgical robotics developer CMR raised the cash at a reported valuation in excess of $1.2bn and has now secured $386m in total.

CMR Surgical, a UK-based surgical robotics developer that counts power and automation technology producer ABB as an investor, raised £195m ($240m) in series C funding today.

Asset management group LGT, University of Cambridge-affiliated patient capital fund Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC), investment firm Watrium, private equity fund Zhejiang Silk Road Fund and Escala Capital put up the cash along with unnamed US investors.
