Google unit Gradient Ventures has contributed to a series A round for the sales support software developer 16 months after its seed funding.

US-based sales meeting automation tool developer Chili Piper secured $18m in series A funding on Tuesday from investors including Gradient Ventures, the artificial intelligence investment vehicle for internet technology provider Google.

Base10 Partners, the venture capital firm co-founded by former corporate venturer Adeyemi Ajao, also took part in the round, as did technology investment firm Flashpoint Venture Capital. TJ Nahigian, a managing partner at Base10, will join Chili Piper’s board of directors in connection with the round.
