Cavendish Kinetics has not disclosed the investors in its latest round, but counts Qualcomm among its existing shareholders and has raised almost $70m since 2006.

Cavendish Kinetics, the US-based radio components manufacturer backed by wireless technology manufacturer Qualcomm, closed a $36m funding round yesterday, raised from unnamed investors.

Cavendish Kinetics produces radio frequency antenna tuners for devices such as smartphones and wearables.

The funding will be used to develop the next generation of its technology, to keep up with demand as the industry moves towards 4G and 5G mobile phone networks. Cavendish expects to ship the first sample units of that technology by 2016.
