Microsoft Ventures, which previously led a $9m series A round, has returned to back a $25m series B that will help Aqua Security strengthen its market position.

Israel-based software development platform Aqua Security attracted $25m in series B funding on Tuesday from backers including Microsoft Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of software company Microsoft.

The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, while TLV Ventures and Shlomo Kramer also supplied cash.

Aqua Security, which emerged from stealth in May 2016 and rebranded from its original name Scalock, has developed a platform that enables companies to develop applications in secure environments known as containers.
