Semiconductor technology company Adapteva has closed $3.6m in series B funding led by Carmel Ventures and Ericsson.

Venture capital firm Carmel Ventures and communications technology and serices vendor Ericsson invested in Adapteva. This investment brings Adapteva’s total funding to $5.1m.

Adapteva, based in the US, has developed a highly energy efficient and scalable multicore processor chip, designed for parallel computing. In 2012 the company launched the Parallella Project that raised $898,921 through the online crowd-sourcing site Kickstarter.
